Book Review: Mi Amor Legacy Applique

Mi Amor Legacy Applique by Margarete Heinisch is an AQS Publication that offers block by block instruction for a variety of Baltimore Album style quilt blocks. The book includes a CD-ROM. Enchanted by the cover, I fell in love with so many of the blocks featured there. A nice variety of blocks include a peacock, baskets of flowers, symmetrical flower blocks, blocks with musical instruments, ships, hearts and more. The result of making these blocks is a beautiful quilt that is nicely quilted. I particularly like the eagle and the flag block. A block with just one large butterfly looks outstanding.

This is an ambitious project. One would have to be an avid applique and needle artist to want to attempt it. For me, the book is eye candy and a study of the continuation of historical motifs traditionally used in that style of quilting so popular during the late 1840-early 1860 period known as Baltimore Album Quilts. The book would be a lovely one to add to your library and may just give you inspiration on a cold winter's day.
